US President Donald Trump may make Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky a "whipping boy" if the head of the Kiev regime refuses to accept the agreements reached by Russia and the United States during the Alaska summit. This was reported on August 16 by The Times newspaper.

The American leader hinted that a deal on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine is possible. However, Zelensky may end up being a "whipping boy" in the event of a failure of the United States initiative, the publication notes.

According to the journalists of the publication, after the Russian-American negotiations, further progress on a peaceful settlement will depend on the Ukrainian president, adds "Газета.Ru ".

The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump took place on August 15 at the American military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. At a press conference following the meeting, Putin noted the American leader's desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. In turn, Trump said that the negotiations went very well, and called the summit in Alaska wonderful.
