Senator Klishas pointed to Russia's desire to establish peace
The meeting of the Presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, confirmed Russia's desire to establish peace. This was announced on August 16 by the head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, Andrei Klishas.
"The meeting in Alaska confirmed Russia's desire for a long—term and just peace," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
He stressed that the tasks of the special military operation (SVO) will be achieved through military or diplomatic means. According to him, one should not expect a cease-fire without conditions.
Klishas also noted that now countries need to adopt a new "architecture of European and international security."
The meeting between Putin and Trump took place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska. Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), stressed that the dialogue between the leaders was positive and constructive.
On August 16, Daniil Bessarabov, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation, noted that it was important to preserve the results of the talks between Putin and Trump. According to the parliamentarian, the main outcome of the negotiations was the very fact of a direct dialogue between the leaders.
