Tokayev called the historic summit of Putin and Trump in Alaska
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called the historic talks between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which became possible due to the desire of the leaders to solve key problems in the world. This was announced on August 16 by Tokayev's press secretary Ruslan Zheldibai.
"Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes that this historic summit was made possible thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two countries," Zheldibai wrote on his Telegram channel.
In addition, he noted the desire of the presidents of the two states to find solutions to the problems of the modern world, including to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Tokayev's spokesman also added that Kazakhstan welcomes the meeting between Putin and Trump as "the beginning of the negotiation process" on Ukraine.
The meeting of the leaders of the United States and Russia took place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska. Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said that the dialogue between the Russian and American leaders was positive and constructive.
At a press conference following the meeting, Putin noted that Trump was seeking to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. He stressed that Russia is also interested in ending the conflict, but this requires eliminating all the root causes of the crisis.
On August 16, Alexei Pushkov, a member of the Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council (SF), noted that the summit could become a turning point in relations between the two states and in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. In his opinion, the negotiations were of a strategic nature and concerned global security issues.
