Slovakia called the meeting between Putin and Trump an important step to end the conflict

The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump in Alaska is an important step towards resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on August 16 by Slovak President Peter Pellegrini.

"The summit was an important step towards achieving the goal of establishing lasting peace in Ukraine," he wrote on his Facebook page (the social network belongs to Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

According to Pellegrini, the atmosphere of mutual respect that was observed at the meeting between the two leaders became a good prerequisite for continuing discussions on the settlement of the Ukrainian issue. He also added that it was a "good way" to have conversations.

The leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States have not yet found a full understanding, but they have made significant progress.

The meeting between Putin and Trump took place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska. Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said that the dialogue between the Russian and American leaders was positive and constructive.

Later, on August 16, Trump said that the talks with Putin had gone very well. In addition, he called the Alaska summit wonderful and added that the meeting was "extremely successful."
