The political scientist called Putin's trip in Trump's limo a sign of trust.
The joint trip of Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump in the limousine of the US president is a sign of great trust between the heads of state. Political analyst Yuri Svetov informed Izvestia about this on August 16.
"This is the gesture when the President of the United States invites Vladimir Putin to get into his own limo, and President Putin responds to this. After all, this is a sign of great trust. <...> I hope that such an atmosphere is emerging, such a tradition of demonstrating goodwill to one's guest," he noted.
The political scientist recalled how the Russian leader drove Chinese President Xi Jinping in his car around Moscow. He also expressed the hope that in the future the leaders of the great powers will be able to travel together in the same car during their working visits and use this time for a constructive dialogue.
"It is these little things that create an atmosphere of dialogue, an atmosphere of respect for one's interlocutor," Svetov added.
Earlier that day, Inna Litvinenko, a political scientist and member of the Public Council at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, reported that Trump showed his affection for Putin by sharing a car with him from Anchorage Airport. According to her, Trump's greeting serves as a signal to the American public and the whole world about the United States' interest in this dialogue.
The meeting between Putin and Trump took place on August 15 at the American military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, and lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes.
