The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump in Anchorage is a joint success of the two leaders, each of whom made his own contribution to achieving the result. This was announced on August 16 by Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
"The very fact of the meeting in Alaska, its tone, and the outcome are a great and joint success of the two presidents, each of whom has made a tremendous personal contribution to achieving the maximum possible result for today," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
The meeting between Putin and Trump took place on August 15 at the American military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, and lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. On the Russian side, it was also attended by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov. The American delegation at the meeting between Putin and Trump included Stephen Witkoff, Special Representative of the President of the United States, and Marco Rubio, Secretary of State.
During the press conference, the Russian president noted the American leader's desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Putin added that Russia is also interested in this, but first it is necessary to solve all the root causes of the crisis. The press conference ended without answering the journalists' questions.
