The US president said that he has no plans to impose sanctions against Russia yet.
American leader Donald Trump has no plans to impose additional anti-Russian sanctions, because the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage went well. He said this in an interview with Fox News channel on August 15.
"Given what happened today, I think I don't need to think about it (increasing pressure on Russia and its partners. — Ed.) now. Maybe I'll think about it in two or three weeks, but we don't need to think about it now," the US president said.
The meeting of the presidents took place on the territory of the American military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, and lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. On the Russian side, it was also attended by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov. The American delegation at the meeting between Putin and Trump included Stephen Witkoff, Special Representative of the President of the United States, and Marco Rubio, Secretary of State.
The head of the White House, commenting on the negotiations, called them very good and once again stressed that the parties had come to an agreement on many issues. Putin, in turn, noted Trump's desire for a settlement in Ukraine, stressing that Russia is also interested in ending the conflict.
