The presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, did not speak to reporters after the meeting in Alaska, as they had already given exhaustive comments. This was announced on August 15 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"Exhaustive statements were made," Peskov said.

Vladimir Putin's spokesman added that the conversation between the presidents was "very positive" and contributed to further joint search for settlement options. According to him, the meeting helped to strengthen confidence in the progress of the negotiation process to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

Following the talks, Putin stressed Trump's willingness to resolve the situation in Ukraine and noted that Russia is also interested in ending the conflict. He agreed with his American colleague's statement that the conflict in Ukraine would not have started under his rule.

Donald Trump, in turn, reported on the coordination of many points related to Ukraine, and noted the good potential on the remaining issues. According to him, telephone talks will be held with the leaders of the EU and NATO countries, as well as with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in the near future.
