Without the United States, Europe will not be able to support Ukraine for long. This was announced to Izvestia on August 16 by economist and political analyst Loretta Napoleoni.

"Without the United States, Europe will not be able to support Ukraine for a long time," Napoleoni said.

According to the analyst, the key problem of European countries now is that Russia is in a better position. Without American support, European aid to Ukraine will not be sustainable in the long term, Napoleoni believes.

The economist also said that the meeting between the two leaders had already become "an important step forward" and, given that this is the first meeting between the United States and Russia in many years, expectations of high-profile statements and specific agreements were unreasonably high.

In an interview with Fox News on August 15, US President Donald Trump called Russia a powerful power and called on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to "make a deal."

Earlier in the day, Trump had already pointed out Russia's great nuclear potential, and maintaining good relations with it, as he stressed, was important for Washington. He also stated that the solution to the issue of settlement in Ukraine is in the hands of the Ukrainian leader.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
