Russia expects constant and gradual progress from the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump. This was announced on August 15 by the Russian Ambassador to Washington, Alexander Darchiev.

"I think the movement is gradual, constant," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

When asked about the likelihood of a second summit, the ambassador replied, "We'll see." He also noted that he expects a positive outcome of the negotiations.

Earlier it became known that a supposedly presidential flight had arrived in Alaska. Prior to that, Trump expressed confidence that the talks with Putin would be successful.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, clarified that Moscow was counting on the effective conclusion of the meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States.

Trump and Putin will meet at the US Air Force base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage on August 15 at about 11:30 local time (22:30 GMT). The central topic of the meeting of the heads of state will be the discussion of the conflict in Ukraine. Following the meeting, a joint press conference of the heads of state is planned.
