"We are going to meet with President Putin in Alaska, and I think everything will go very well," the US president said.
Trump also noted that in case of an unfortunate combination of circumstances, they would simply "go home."
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian side was counting on an effective conclusion to the president's meeting. Peskov also said that Putin's plane should land in Anchorage at 11:00 local time (22:00 Moscow time). He also confirmed that Trump would meet the Russian leader at the ramp. The presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States will meet at the Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base in Anchorage on August 15 at about 22:30 Moscow time, according to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
