On August 15, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev paid a working visit to the Chuvash Republic, where he inspected facilities built under the national Ecology project and met with the head of the region, Oleg Nikolaev.

"The Chuvash Republic actively participates in environmental activities. As part of the national Ecology project, the Russian government has allocated approximately 3.5 billion rubles to support them. As a result, three waste management complexes were introduced, a number of landfills and accumulated damage facilities were eliminated, and sewage treatment and storm water facilities on the Volga were built and reconstructed. The work continues through the national Environmental Well-being project. The measures, among other things, are aimed at preserving water resources and forests, as well as creating a modern waste management infrastructure," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

According to Patrushev, the development of modern waste management infrastructure is the task of all subjects. Each of them had previously approved territorial schemes reflecting, among other things, the required number of facilities, as well as plans for their construction. The fulfillment of these obligations is controlled at the level of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin has set the task of creating a closed-loop economy in the country. The key to achieving this goal, first of all, is the large-scale construction of modern waste management facilities. In addition, Patrushev visited one of these projects, a waste sorting complex in the Kanash municipal district.

During the working meeting with Nikolayev, Patrushev positively assessed the development of the region in many areas. In particular, agriculture, which is an important sector of the Chuvash economy, is showing steady growth in indicators. In addition, the parties discussed issues of effective environmental management, the implementation of the national project "Ecology" and "Environmental well-being" in the region.

Earlier, on July 23, Alexander Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region, discussed the ecology and agro-industrial complex of the region at a meeting with Patrushev. Over the past five years, unauthorized landfills have been eliminated in the region, and processes for clearing reservoirs and overhauling hydraulic structures have been established.
