Degtyarev praised the development of sports infrastructure in the Komi Republic
Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, visited the Komi Republic on Friday, August 15, and assessed the development of sports infrastructure.
During the visit, Degtyarev held a meeting with the acting head of the region, Rostislav Goldstein. The Minister got acquainted with the development of the regional sports infrastructure and inspected the ski base under construction in Syktyvkar, the Republican Ski Complex named after Raisa Smetanina, as well as a key base for training skiers and biathletes.
"There are projects within the framework of public-private partnership. This is a good practice, and there are good examples across the country. Definitely, here is the center for adaptive sports with an emphasis on sports rehabilitation of our heroes, veterans of the special operation. The guys come in with injuries. This is our number one priority, and we must look for a solution here," he said.
Currently, a network of 296 school sports clubs has been created in the republic, new sports complexes, smart playgrounds and a modular hall have been built. In addition, it is planned to launch a digital center.
During his working trip, Degtyarev also presented departmental awards to athletes from the republic.
Earlier, on July 28, Degtyarev assessed the progress of the restoration of the sports infrastructure of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) as part of a working trip to the region. He specified that the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation had allocated almost 1.5 billion rubles for the repair of sports facilities in the republic.
