Trump announced the introduction of duties on steel and microchip imports next week.
US President Donald Trump on Friday, August 15, expressed his intention to impose duties on imports of steel and microchips next week.
"I will set duties next week on steel, as well as on microchips," he told reporters on board a plane bound for Alaska, where the Russian Federation and the United States will hold a summit.
Evgeny Shatov, a partner at Capital Lab, told Izvestia on August 7 that the duties imposed by Trump on goods from more than 60 countries and the European Union (EU) would affect key sectors of the economy, including automobiles, electronics, pharmaceuticals and energy. According to him, tariffs range from 15% to 41%. The expert stressed that the duties will have the greatest impact on car exports from Germany and Canada, as well as on electronics supplies from Taiwan and South Korea.
