- Erdogan expressed dissatisfaction with the West's attitude towards the situation with Gaza
The Western world does not show the sensitivity to the situation in Gaza that it shows in relation to the Ukrainian crisis. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote about this on August 14 in an article for the Al-Jazeera TV channel.
"The silence of the world or its weak response only exacerbates suffering and paves the way for continued oppression. The West's double standards – hasty actions in other crises and an ambivalent approach to Gaza – undermine confidence in an international order supposedly based on principles and rules," the president said.
He also noted that if the West had paid as much attention to Gaza as to Ukraine, "today we would have a completely different picture" in the enclave.
On August 4, Erdogan pointed out to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer the importance of measures to force Israel to cease fire in the Gaza Strip. According to Erdogan, Turkey is constantly sending humanitarian aid to Gaza and supports efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the region.
