A hotel for journalists in Alaska is guarded by patrol cars and police
The hotel of Russian journalists who came to Alaska to cover the meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, is guarded at night by six patrol cars and a police platoon. This was told by Maxim Prikhoda, a correspondent of Izvestia, who is on the scene.
"That's how our location is guarded at night. There are one, two, three, six patrol cars and about a platoon of police," he said.
The American policeman on duty at the building, when asked why there were so many law enforcement officers, explained that everyone who was free had come to help.
"There are just so many people available today to help. But it's not all the employees, we wouldn't all be here. We have a very large staff. There are too many of us for everyone to be here," he said.
After asking if it was dangerous in the city, the correspondent received an unequivocal answer from a police officer — no.
Earlier, Izvestia showed footage of the hotel where the Russian delegation stayed during the summit. According to journalist Vladimir Artyukhov, Anchorage Airport and a lake surrounded by birch trees are located next to The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel.
Putin and Trump will meet at the Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base in Anchorage on August 15 at 22:00 Moscow time. The conflict in Ukraine will be the central topic of discussions between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States. In addition, the leaders of the countries will touch upon broader issues of ensuring peace and security.
In Alaska, a peace service was held at the Orthodox Church of St. Innocent in Anchorage. It was clarified that the prayers were in English, but Russian words were often heard: "Holy Mother of God" and "Save and preserve."
