The volume of mutual trade between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) increased by 6.8% last year, almost reaching 9 trillion rubles. This was announced on August 15 by Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

According to Mishustin, it is necessary to give "a significant impetus to mutual trade," since its potential is quite high.

"Its volume increased by 6.8% last year, approaching 9 trillion rubles," he noted.

In addition, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation drew attention to the fact that the Union needs to create mechanisms for effective customs control of the cost of goods imported from abroad. Mishustin added that the EAEU's transport policy plans will also include measures involving the involvement of in-demand specialists.

In addition, at the meeting, the heads of government of the EAEU countries adopted concepts for the development of a common market for medicines and medical devices in the association. According to Mishustin, this will help ensure the safety and high quality of medicines and medical products.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted on June 27 that the economic growth rates of the EAEU countries are ahead of the global average, which shows the success of joint work. He stressed that the joint work of the Union countries helps to "multiply" the opportunities for economic growth.
