Bloomberg has learned about the US administration's plans to buy a stake in Intel
The White House is negotiating with the American technology company Intel in order to acquire a share with it. This was reported by Bloomberg on August 14, citing sources.
The publication explained that the deal will be able to strengthen the corporation's capacity in the country, for example, to help build a production center in Ohio. It is specified that the company promised to turn this site into the largest enterprise for the creation of chips.
According to Bloomberg, negotiations with the corporation started after US President Donald Trump called for the resignation of Intel CEO Lip-Boo Tan. At the same time, the company's management declined to comment on the discussions.
"We look forward to continuing our work with the Trump administration to advance these shared priorities, but we are not going to comment on rumors or speculation," Intel said.
On August 7, Trump called on the CEO of Intel Corporation to resign immediately amid the attention of the American authorities to Tan's ties with the Chinese technology sector. The next day, the head of the corporation said that Intel's management continues to contact the Trump administration. Tan recalled that the company's success is critically important for the technological and industrial leadership of the United States, as well as for the national security and economic strength of the country.
