During the rallies, protesters in Serbia destroyed the office of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SPP) in Novi Sad and wanted to burn it down. This was announced on August 14 by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

"It's quite clear what happened last night. They wanted to burn people alive. You can <...> imagine what they would have done to the people who were there. We would have 300 people burned alive," he said, broadcast by the Informer TV channel on YouTube.

Vucic said that Serbia has a lot of work to do to reform the police, judicial system and prosecutor's office. He also assured that the state would definitely do its job and suppress the protests.

Earlier on August 14, Director of the Military Security Agency, Colonel-General Juro Jovanic, reported that seven soldiers were injured in riots in Serbia, four with serious injuries. Serbian law enforcement agencies will identify the attackers, he added.

On August 12, protests took place in Serbian Vrbas, during which almost 70 people were injured. A group of citizens of the republic expressed dissatisfaction in front of the building of the Serbian Progressive Party and its supporters. On August 13, it was reported that 64 people were injured in the protests, 16 of them policemen. The actions covered the offices of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party in Novi Sad and other cities of Serbia.

Anti-government protests began after 15 people died in the collapse of the railway station in Novi Sad in November 2024. The protesters blocked bridges and roads.
