The normalization of relations between the Russian Federation and the United States could result in joint infrastructure projects in the Arctic, as well as the fight against climate change. Amy Lauren Lovecraft, a professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks, told Izvestia about this.

"It is very important that Russian scientists are able to share their research on permafrost and ice again. The nature of the Arctic influences monsoons in the mid-latitudes and tropics. We know how much the poles affect the weather. It would be great if there were exchanges of such scientific information," she said.

At the same time, the expert believes that these issues will not be on the agenda of the meeting in Alaska, which is scheduled for August 15.
