Moscow and Damascus intend to conduct a joint inventory of all existing agreements and contracts after the Syrian side appoints its co-chairman of the intergovernmental Russian-Syrian commission. This was reported to Izvestia by the press service of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation.

"Currently, Irek Fayzullin, Minister of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation, is co-chairing the intergovernmental Russian-Syrian commission on the Russian side. After the Syrian side completes the procedure for appointing its co—chairman, a joint inventory and updating of all existing agreements and contracts with Syria will be required," the ministry said.

The Ministry stressed that the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Russian-Syrian intergovernmental commission will be formed taking into account the approaches of the new Syrian leadership to cooperation with Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov raised the issue of renegotiating the agreements on July 31 following talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani. The meeting was held in Moscow.
