The peel should be whole, clean and smooth, but without excessive glossiness, which often indicates an excess of nitrates.

A good watermelon has a bright, contrasting pattern, a light "earthy spot" on the side, and the flesh is rich in color, granular and shiny, writes 360.ru .

The specialist also stressed that you should not buy watermelons with damaged or incised skins, and before cutting the fruit, it should be washed under warm water with household soap to reduce the risk of intestinal infection.
