- At the exhibition "The very Moscow", guests will see the historical facade of the very first metro station.
At the exhibition "The same Moscow" in the Manege, which runs from August 7 to 31 as part of the forum "Territory of the Future. Moscow 2030", visitors will see the very Sokolniki station, the very first station of the Moscow Metro.
The station is known for its historic lobby. In the space dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Moscow Metro, a mock-up of it with bas—reliefs, statues and a unique stained glass window in the form of a red star was presented to the guests at the exhibition.
There are many other interesting exhibits. For example, the historical layout of the first turnstiles of the Moscow metro, the very first scheme, which in 1935 consisted of a single line, the restored metro scheme of the 1960s, where the selected route is illuminated with light bulbs, and finally, the telephone control, which in the 1960s as an experiment was installed at some stations. In such a TV guide presented at the exhibition, the operator girl will talk about the development of the metro in the 60s: about the stations opened then and the renovation of metro trains.
In addition, historical navigation elements will be shown at the exhibition, for example, the legendary column with the inscription "Passage", which in the 60s marked all entrances to the subway through an underpass. Also among the exhibits is a switchboard, which in the 70s and 80s was used to organize dispatching communications.
Thus, visitors can truly immerse themselves in the history of the Moscow metro, get acquainted with legends and myths, the interiors of the very first and most modern metro trains, and the legendary stained glass windows of Moscow stations.
"90 years ago, thanks to the joint efforts of specialists from the transport, urban planning and industrial sectors, the first line of the Moscow Metro was launched. The appearance of the metro in Moscow has changed the philosophy of movement, shaped the rhythm of development and life of the capital. On behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, at the "The Same Moscow" exhibition in the Manege, we tell visitors how the metro was created, show how the first stations and the first carriages looked — this is an important part of the city's history," said Maxim Liksutov.
