Russian Karen Khachanov withdrew from the fourth round match of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Masters tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio, against German representative Alexander Zverev due to an old back injury. The match on August 14 ended ahead of schedule with the score 7:5, 3:0 in favor of Zverev.

"For the first time in my career, I didn't finish the match. The feeling, of course, is unpleasant — the audience came to watch the game...> My back started to hurt. This is the same injury that has already been felt several times in recent years," Khachanov said in an interview on the YouTube channel "More!".

The athlete noted that he could have continued the match, but decided not to do so, so as not to aggravate the health situation.

On August 10, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev lost to Australian player Adam Walton, the 85th racket of the world, in the second round of the Masters tournament in Cincinnati. Medvedev lost with a score 7:6 (7:0), 4:6, 1:6.
