Unknown persons burned a two-hundred-year-old oak tree in the Ilyas-Kai area in Sevastopol. The natural attraction was located near the tourist trail to the "Temple of the Sun," according to the Telegram channel "State of Emergency / Sevastopol."

A tree with a hollow at the very root was one of the business cards of the popular route. According to one of the townspeople, the vandals lit a fire right inside the tree. When the flames got out of control, they escaped.

"It's hard to understand what motivated these subhumans. But it feels like I've lost a friend," wrote a local resident.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the tree could not be saved, IA SevastopolMedia. All that remained of it were the charred parts of the trunk. Sevprirodnadzor believes that it will be very difficult to find the culprits.

Earlier it was reported that the Suvorov oak from Crimea entered the top three of the Russian Tree of the Year 2025 contest. 70 historical natural rarities from all over the country took part in the competition.
