A new 19th package of European Union (EU) sanctions against Russia may be adopted in September. This was stated on August 14 by the representative of the European Commission Arianna Podesta, responding to a question from the National Italian News Agency (ANSA) about new sanctions against the Russian Federation.

"Europe will continue to put pressure on Russia...> we have already accepted 18 sanctions packages, and we are working on the 19th," Podesta said.

On August 12, the European Council published a resolution on the continuation by the leaders of the EU member states of the sanctions policy against Russia against the background of the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump. It was noted that the EU countries also expressed their intention to continue providing comprehensive support to Kiev.

On August 11, the head of the EU Diplomatic Service, Kaya Kallas, announced that the EU would work on the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. According to her, a truce between Ukraine and Russia must first be established without any preconditions, backed by a strict control system and reliable guarantees.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on July 30 that Russia had developed immunity to sanctions imposed by other states.
