A pool of Russian journalists is ready to fly to Alaska. This was announced on August 14 by Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Ivanov.

Currently, media representatives have arrived at the gathering place at the airport. Ivanov recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be the first Russian leader to visit Alaska.

Putin will meet with American leader Donald Trump on August 15 at the Air Force Base USA Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. According to Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the summit will begin around 11:30 a.m. local time (22:30 a.m. Moscow time). The central topic of the meeting will be the conflict in Ukraine.

The Russian delegation will include Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Special Presidential Envoy for Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev and Ushakov.

During a meeting before the Alaska summit, Putin pointed to the energetic and sincere efforts of the White House administration to end hostilities in Ukraine. According to him, the American side is taking steps to create long-term peace conditions not only between the conflicting countries, but also in Europe and the world as a whole.
