A car loses more than half of its value in three years of working in a taxi. This was announced on August 13 by Sergey Tselikov, General Director of the Autostat analytical agency, in his Telegram channel.

Using the example of Haval Jolion, the expert explained that a car in private hands loses an average of 21% of the cost in three years, the same car in carsharing — 47%, and in a taxi — 54% of the original price.

The residual value of passenger cars in 2023-2024 remained at a high level, Sergey Tselikov noted. The reason for this was the rising cost of new cars. In 2025, the picture changed dramatically due to discounts and new car sales, which led to a significant reduction in the residual value of used cars.

In the near future, the loss of value will continue at a rapid pace, as the price increase for new cars has slowed significantly, said the General Director of Autostat.

In July, the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, announced that the list of cars allowed for use by taxi companies after the law on taxi localization came into force would be prepared in September. According to him, foreign automobile production facilities located in the Russian Federation should be encouraged to use Russian automotive electronics.
