27 police officers were injured in riots in Serbia.
In Serbia, 27 police officers were injured during the riots, while 47 violators of the order were detained from among the participants in the clashes. This was announced on August 14 by the country's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.
According to him, some of the wounded policemen suffered serious injuries. Five official cars of representatives of the department and 22 pieces of equipment were also damaged.
"47 cases of administrative offenses and five criminal cases have been initiated, the participants in the blockade injured more than 70-80 citizens," the Tanjug news agency cites the data.
Earlier on August 14, Director of the Military Security Agency, Colonel-General Juro Jovanic, reported that seven soldiers were injured in riots in Serbia, four with serious injuries. Serbian law enforcement agencies will identify the attackers, he added.
Anti-government protests began after 15 people died in the collapse of the railway station in Novi Sad in November 2024. The protesters blocked bridges and roads.
On August 12, protests took place in Serbian Vrbas, during which almost 70 people were injured. A group of citizens of the republic expressed dissatisfaction in front of the building of the Serbian Progressive Party and its supporters. On August 13, it was reported that 64 people were injured in the protests, 16 of them policemen. They covered the offices of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party in Novi Sad and other cities of Serbia.
