In 2024, the shortage of primary school teachers was about 100,000 people. This was stated by Viktor Panin, chairman of the All—Russian Society for the Protection of the rights of Consumers of educational services "Decent education for Russian Citizens" on August 14 at the Izvestia press center during a press conference on the topic: "What changes are waiting for Russian schools in the new academic year?"

"59,000 foreign language teachers were missing last year. This is a very serious problem," the specialist noted.

Turnover in 2024, according to Panin, was almost 50%. According to him, universities have graduated about 150,000 teachers in a year, but young specialists do not stay in schools.

"Specialists earn more in tutoring," he added.

On July 25, deputies of the State Duma drafted a bill according to which parents of schoolchildren will be paid annually an amount equal to the subsistence level in connection with the start of the school year. According to the law under consideration, a payment is proposed for each student in the family.
