Footage of the situation in Novi Sad amid riots has been published
Unrest continues in Serbia in connection with anti-government protests. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on August 14.
"The clashes in Novi Sad have turned into an opposition war," said Izvestia correspondent Sergei Petrov.
According to him, the protesters are smashing up the cars of employees of the ruling party's office while they are under siege in the building. The video shows cars with broken windows, the sounds of protesters shouting and explosions popping.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reported on August 13 that more than 60 people were injured as a result of Serbian rallies. It was clarified that 16 policemen were among them.
On the evening of August 12, protests took place in Serbian Vrbas, during which almost 70 people were injured, including 16 policemen. It was clarified that a group of citizens of the republic protested in front of the building of the Serbian Progressive Party and its supporters. Several people were detained.
The next day, Vucic announced that he did not intend to run for the next presidential election. He clarified that he would end his presidential career in a year and a half and had no plans to change the country's Constitution. In addition, the Serbian leader allowed early elections to the Serbian parliament.
The anti-government protests, which are attended by the Serbian opposition, began after 15 people died in November 2024 as a result of the collapse of the railway station in Novi Sad. The protesters blocked bridges and roads. On July 4, Vucic called on those who took to the streets not to block the city, threatening to use counteraction measures.
