Fiala announced the delivery of 1 million large-caliber shells to Ukraine
This year, Ukraine received 1 million shells under the Czech ammunition initiative. This was announced on August 13 by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
"As part of the Czech ammunition initiative, Ukraine has already received 1 million large—caliber ammunition this year," the CTK news agency quoted him as saying.
The agency reports that in 2024 Kiev has already received 1.5 million shells from the Czech Republic. It is specified that in 2025 it is planned to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the form of 1.8 million units of large-caliber ammunition.
On the other hand, former Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis has long opposed the supply. About a month ago, he called this initiative "overstated" and "formalized."
The Neue Zürcher Zeitung reported on August 9 that Ukraine may lose an ally in the Czech Republic in the near future. It is clarified that Babis, an opponent of military aid to Ukraine, is currently in the lead in the Czech elections.
