US President Donald Trump plans to offer Russia access to rare earth minerals in Alaska. This was reported on August 13 by The Telegraph newspaper.
"The US president will arrive for a long—awaited meeting with his Russian counterpart [Vladimir Putin] on Friday, armed with a number of opportunities. <...> They will include opening Alaska's natural resources to Moscow," the article says.
It is clarified that among Trump's other initiatives is the lifting of the ban on the supply of spare parts and equipment for the maintenance of civil aircraft in Russia.
On August 13, Sky News TV channel announced the possibility of easing European Union (EU) sanctions against Russia in the event of a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine. At the same time, in the case of a temporary truce, anti-Russian sanctions will continue to apply.
