Chairman of the State Duma Volodin arrived in the DPRK on an official visit
On August 13, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, arrived in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on an official visit at the invitation of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Republic.
"Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, at the head of the delegation of the State Duma, arrived on an official visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at the invitation of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK," a statement posted on the State Duma website said.
It is specified that the Russian delegation will stay in the DPRK until Friday, August 15. The program of this visit includes a number of meetings, as well as the participation of representatives of the State Duma in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese colonial rule.
During a telephone conversation on August 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un confirmed their countries' commitment to strengthening good-neighborliness and developing bilateral cooperation. Putin also congratulated Kim Jong-un on the upcoming 80th anniversary of liberation from Japanese colonial rule, which will be celebrated on August 15.
