Tusk said that Trump understands the position of the European Union on Ukraine
US President Donald Trump sympathized with the position of European countries on the Ukrainian conflict, voiced before his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska. This was announced on August 13 by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
"It was very important for President Trump to hear a unified position and, <...> after many days of work, <...>..> we have managed to work it out," Tusk said during a press conference.
According to his statement, Trump assured that the negotiations in Alaska would not discuss the issue of territorial concessions or the exchange of territories of Ukraine.
He also noted that European leaders had previously reached a consensus on the inadmissibility of making any territorial decisions without the participation of Ukraine and Europe.
On August 11, Tusk said that the United States had promised to consult with the EU before Putin's meeting with Trump. According to Tusk, the European group is in contact with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. As White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt later clarified, Anchorage will be the site of the summit.
