More than 20 officials from the Kiev City State Administration (KSCA) and businessmen providing services to their department are accused of negligence, which led to damage to Ukraine in the amount of 230 million hryvnias ($ 5.5 million). This was announced on August 13 in the press service of the office of the Prosecutor General of the country.

"22 suspicions for a total amount of damage of more than 230 million hryvnias were handed over to officials of the KSCA, municipal enterprises and entrepreneurs in Kiev. <...> Officials are suspected of official negligence, which cost the capital's budget hundreds, and in some places millions of hryvnias," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.

It is specified that employees of municipal enterprises and structural divisions of the KSCA and contractors who performed work on their order for money allocated from the budget are suspected of seizing funds. These individuals are suspected of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 367 and Part 4, 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Official negligence", "Misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it by abuse of official position").

The statement notes that the petition for the election of a preventive measure against the suspects and their removal from office has already been sent to court.

The British magazine The Economist reported on August 1 that employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), whose activities could not be stopped by the decree of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky that came into force on July 23, intend to strengthen investigations into the work of Ukrainian officials and will not take a step back in this matter.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, told Izvestia on July 26 that, in her opinion, there is no fight against corruption in Ukraine. She noted that such a process has never happened in Ukraine, and the NABU and the Specialized Anti—Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) are tools of the West that allow it to control Kiev.
