US President Donald Trump has rejected claims by his former national security adviser John Bolton that the upcoming summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska would be a "big victory" for Russia. He wrote about it on August 13 on the Truth Social network.

The American leader accused the media of trying to discredit the meeting with Putin. According to him, the media constantly cites "losers and stupid people," including Bolton, who said that Moscow had won in the framework of the future summit between the Russian Federation and the United States.

"Extremely unscrupulous media <...> constantly quote dismissed losers and completely stupid people, such as John Bolton, who just stated that, despite the fact that the meeting is taking place on American soil, "Putin has already won." What is it anyway?"— said Trump.

On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. Later, White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt named Anchorage as the place where the summit of the Russian Federation and the United States will take place.
