A temporary dam will be built along the Chita River to protect residential buildings from water.

A temporary dam will be built in the Chita Railway district (Zabaikalsky Krai) to protect residential buildings from water. The city administration announced this in its Telegram channel on Wednesday, August 13.

Shore protection works are currently underway along the Chita River near Signalers Lane in the village of Biofabrika. In July 2025, the houses in the specified lane were flooded due to rising water levels in the river.

"Now it is planned to build a temporary dam here, which will run along residential buildings. The length of the embankment will be about 400 m," the message says.

According to the ChitaMedia news agency, the restoration of other dams is planned in the city. It is expected that, in addition to the Railway, work will take place in the Ingodinsky and Central districts.
