A veteran of the US Armed Forces stated the EU's fear of potential cooperation between Russia and the United States

Europe is afraid of the development of Russian-American relations that may follow the meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. This was announced on August 13 by Stephen Eugene Kuhn, a veteran of the American Armed Forces (AF), a geopolitical analyst.

"For more than 100 years, the British Empire, and now the European Union, feared one thing: that America and Russia could cooperate. <...> After all, when these two get along, they don't need Europe, do they?" he said in a video posted on the Instagram social network (owned by Meta, recognized in Russia as extremist, prohibited).

Kuhn clarified that a meeting between the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States could mean much more than ending the conflict in Ukraine. He said that the negotiations could be the beginning of the "deal of the century in the field of development."

The analyst also stressed that neither Putin nor Trump take European leaders seriously. According to him, the heads of state are able to start fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation, bypassing Europe.

On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. As White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt later clarified, Anchorage will be the venue for the summit.

Andrei Bystritsky, a political scientist and professor at the Higher School of Economics (HSE), noted that the EU countries fear that Russia and the United States will be able to find a constructive solution to resolve the Ukrainian conflict following the meeting in Alaska. According to the expert, the main problem is the consciousness of a number of political leaders who make decisions in Western European countries.
