Access to calls in the Telegram and WhatsApp messengers (part of Meta, the organization is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) will be returned in compliance with the law. This was announced on August 13 by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.
"Foreign messengers, including Telegram and WhatsApp, despite repeated warnings from the Russian authorities, refuse to comply with the requirements of Russian legislation," the ministry said.
Earlier that day, Roskomnadzor informed about the partial blocking of calls to Telegram and WhatsApp to counter criminals.
