The Rosatom Icebreaker of Knowledge International Arctic expedition started on August 13 from Murmansk. It is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Russian nuclear industry and the 500th anniversary of the beginning of Russia's exploration of the Northern Sea Route, which was established this year by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The sixth expedition will follow the Murmansk— North Pole — Franz Josef Land— Murmansk route. The MAER media holding acted as the communication partner of the Icebreaker of Knowledge: the launch of the International Arctic Expedition was shown in real time on large digital screens in 12 Russian cities at once. In his address to the participants of the Arctic expedition departure ceremony, Grigory Gurov, head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and an expert of the expedition, stressed that visiting the North Pole is a dream of many people, which is comparable to space flight.

"Getting on a nuclear icebreaker and taking part in the Rosatom international Arctic expedition is a truly unique opportunity. Those who turned out to be here earned this trip with great difficulty, proving that they are the best of the best. This year, the competition was 1,400 people per place, which was a record. For some, the project was the first big victory that showed that everything is real if you dream. Thanks to the decisions of the President of Russia, all conditions have been created for young people so that everyone can realize their potential, bold ideas and dreams by combining opportunities in the national Youth and Children project," said Grigory Gurov.

66 schoolchildren from 21 countries went to the North Pole. Many foreign participants will be the first representatives of their countries to visit the top of the planet. Russian and foreign scientists, engineers, specialists in the nuclear and space industries, well-known bloggers and science popularizers, as well as a correspondent of the MAER media holding will also take part in the expedition. Throughout the Arctic expedition, the media holding will broadcast news from aboard the nuclear-powered vessel on large outdoor screens. In total, over 8.5 million people will see information about the expedition.

"Dear participants of the Icebreaker of Knowledge expedition, I congratulate each of you on the beginning of a great and truly inspiring journey beyond the horizon of the familiar. Towards new discoveries and important questions about the future of our planet, the future of technology and man himself. You are the generation that will determine the vector of scientific and technological development. The MAER knows how to enhance the important. We are glad to be a part of this expedition to show the country and the world that the future is already here. It is already in the hands of thinking, bright and daring guys. Just like you. May every day of this expedition be a discovery for you," said Konstantin Mayor, owner and CEO of the MAER media holding.

The expedition plans to reach the North Pole on August 17, and the return to the port of Murmansk will take place on August 22, the day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation.
