Investigators in the Voronezh Region have opened a criminal case after checking information from social media about damage to monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the city of Ertil. This was reported on August 13 in the press service of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.
"During the monitoring of social media, a message was revealed that in the city of Ertil, an unidentified person damaged the pedestals of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War <...> it was decided to initiate a criminal case under Article 243.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Destruction or damage of monuments perpetuating the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland")," the Telegram publication says -the channel.
It is noted that the investigation establishes the circumstances of the case and collects evidence against the defendants.
On June 3, investigators opened a criminal case in connection with the damage to the obelisk "Warrior Liberator" in Mytishchi near Moscow. It was clarified that the video in which a group of minors damaged the monument was posted on social media.
