The Arbitration Court of the Krasnodar Territory has satisfied the claim of Rosprirodnadzor against the owner and charterer of the wrecked tanker Volgoneft-239 and decided to recover almost 35.5 billion rubles. This was reported by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom on August 13.

The defendants in the case are Kamatransoil and Kama Shipping companies, the plaintiffs are Rosprirodnadzor, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Transport and other departments. The defendants did not attend the hearing.

Earlier in the day, the court recovered 49.5 billion rubles from the owners and charterers of another wrecked tanker, Volgoneft—212.

Tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident caused a spill of petroleum products. 27 people were evacuated from both ships, one person died. On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
