Investigators have completed a criminal investigation into the damage to the graves of Crimean residents who died in the special operation zone, including the grave of Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak. This was reported on August 13 in the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that a 44-year-old resident of the Nizhnegorsky district committed arson of burial structures. Law enforcement agencies were able to detain the suspect. During the interrogation, he admitted his guilt.

"The investigation of the criminal case has been completed. The materials have been sent to the court for consideration on the merits," the department's Telegram channel says.

At the end of March, vandals burned and vandalized Fedorchak's grave in Crimea. A criminal case has been opened into the abuse of the grave of the correspondent and three other dead participants in the special operation.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the situation with the burning of Fedorchak's grave monstrous and pointed out the need to apply harsh measures to those responsible.

Fedorchak died in the SVO zone on March 24.
