Politico learned Kiev's demands before the meeting between Trump and Putin
Ukraine has listed five demands as part of the settlement of the conflict with Russia. They were published by the Politico newspaper on August 13.
It is specified that Kiev, before the meeting of the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, may demand guarantees of security and a sustainable truce, but without concessions "regarding its borders." In addition, the Ukrainian side wants Moscow to pay compensation and exchange prisoners of war, which was previously agreed upon during negotiations between the Russian and American delegations.
In addition, the Ukrainian side wants to maintain anti-Russian sanctions.
Earlier, on August 12, American Thinker magazine criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for refusing to cede territory before the summit of the heads of Russia and the United States. The article noted that he speaks like a man convinced of his victory, although in fact Kiev is losing. It was noted that the refusal of the Ukrainian leader to give up territories can only lead to the loss of sovereignty.
On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. The American leader noted that details about the upcoming negotiations will be published later. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the choice of a venue for negotiations logical. He said that the economic interests of the states intersect in the region.
On August 12, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt named Anchorage in Alaska as the city where the summit of the Russian Federation and the United States will take place. She said that these negotiations will help identify steps to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
