- The Foreign Ministry recalled that the territorial structure of Russia is enshrined in the Constitution.
The territorial structure of the Russian Federation is enshrined in the Constitution, said Alexey Fadeev, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, at a briefing on August 13.
"The territorial structure of the Russian Federation is enshrined in the Constitution of our country. That says it all," he said, answering a question about a possible discussion of the "land swap" at a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump.
Fadeev added that the goals of the Russian delegation at the Alaska talks will be determined solely by Russia's national interests.
On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the choice of a venue for negotiations logical. He said that the economic interests of the states intersect in the region.
On August 12, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt named Anchorage in Alaska as the city where the summit of the Russian Federation and the United States will take place. She said that these negotiations will help identify steps to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, CNN named the Elmendorf-Richardson joint military base as the venue for negotiations.
