On Wednesday, August 13, against the background of the planned summit with Russia in Alaska, US President Donald Trump announced plans to talk with European leaders.

"I will talk to European leaders soon," he wrote on the Truth Social network.

Trump suggested that European leaders want to make a deal.

The day before, Andrei Bystritsky, a political scientist and professor at the Higher School of Economics (HSE), said that the European Union (EU) countries fear that the Russian Federation and the United States will be able to find a constructive solution to resolve the Ukrainian conflict following the summit. According to the expert, the main problem is the consciousness of a number of political leaders who make decisions in Western European countries.

On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. Later, White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt named Anchorage as the place where the summit of the Russian Federation and the United States will take place.
