Negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump could create a "dangerous situation" for Ukraine. This was announced on August 13 by political scientist Thomas Yeager.

"Now [Trump] is ready to make a 'compromise,' and it needs to be put in very big quotation marks, because he doesn't have any position at all. He does not concede anything, but behaves as if he is the one who can negotiate on the territories, on the status of Ukraine, on its sovereignty and territorial integrity," he said on the NTV Nachrichten TV channel.

According to the political scientist, if Putin announces the failure of negotiations and leaves, the US president "will find himself in a difficult position and will be forced to stand like a wet poodle." Yeager added that in such a situation, the American leader is likely to make concessions to Russia's demands.

After that, the expert believes, Ukraine may be faced with a choice — to agree to the terms and actually capitulate, or to refuse and receive accusations of disinterest in negotiations from the United States. The political scientist stressed that such a scenario is very dangerous for Kiev.
