In St. Petersburg, fraudsters introduced themselves as employees of the military prosecutor's office and extorted more than 5.5 million rubles from a 79-year-old pensioner. This was reported by a source of Izvestia.

"In July, a St. Petersburg woman answered a call from the alleged military prosecutor's office. The interlocutor stated that unknown people tried to take possession of her savings, and then urged her to "declare" the funds," the source said.

Over the course of several days, the pensioner met with couriers nine times near her house and handed over her savings to them. The total amount of damage amounted to more than 5.5 million rubles. An investigation is underway into the incident.

Earlier, on August 11, a 90-year-old pensioner believed in a fictional car accident involving her daughter. It was clarified that the malefactor promised to help with treatment and convinced the pensioner to give her 800 thousand rubles. On the same day, a St. Petersburg woman met a stranger in her entrance and gave her her money.
