The British man who threw away bitcoins in 2013 decided to stop looking for them.
The former owner of the James Howells cryptocurrency, who accidentally got lost in a landfill in Newport, UK, is no longer trying to get his bitcoins back, the value of which is now estimated at 76 billion rubles. This was reported on August 11 by the Daily Mail.
"I was denied the opportunity to even start a search. What else can I do? What else do you want me to try? I'm ready to try anything they say, but in the end, if the gatekeepers don't open the gate, there's nothing to try," Howells said.
Despite offering a share of the funds and even the idea of buying the entire dump, all his attempts to return the cryptocurrency were rejected. After failing in court, Howells decided to stop the search.
